Where does the name come from?
The name The Nine Streets refers literally to the nine cross streets that connect the Heren-, Keizers- and Prinsengracht. Although the streets have existed since the 17th century, the name only became known in the 1990s when local entrepreneurs jointly promoted the neighbourhood as a special shopping area. By now the Nine Streets are a household name, both in the Netherlands and far beyond.
