De Amstelboulevard

The Amstelboulevard is a quiet walking promenade along the river Amstel, close to Amsterdam Amstel station. Unlike the busy canals in the centre, this boulevard offers plenty of space to walk, run or simply enjoy the view over the water. Along the quay you find modern apartments, hotels, hospitality venues and green spots where you can relax. From the boulevard you look out over the Amstel, where pleasure boats, rowers and canal cruise boats pass by. Thanks to the combination of water, nature and urban architecture, the Amstelboulevard is a beloved spot for both local residents and visitors who want to escape the bustle of the city centre for a while.
Where does the name come from?
The name Amstelboulevard is easy to explain: the boulevard lies directly on the river Amstel, to which Amsterdam owes its name. The word boulevard refers to the wide walking promenade along the water. In this way the name emphasises both the location and the recreational character of this place.

Fun fact
Did you know that from the Amstelboulevard you have a beautiful view of rowers who train on the Amstel every day? The river has been a beloved training location for Amsterdam rowing clubs for decades. Especially early in the morning and during sunset, this produces a typically Amsterdam picture: mirror-smooth water, historic bridges and long rowing boats gliding silently past.
