Holtkamp
Patisserie Holtkamp is one of the most famous pastry shops of Amsterdam and has been a fixed value for lovers of artisanal pastry for generations. On the Vijzelgracht, classic delicacies are made daily, such as tompoucen, cream puffs, little cakes, bonbons and the famous Holtkamp croquettes. Although the Holtkamp family only took over the business in 1969, there has been a pastry shop at this location since 1886. The characteristic little shop, with its beautiful Amsterdam School interior, still breathes the atmosphere of the past and has grown into a culinary monument of the city. Holtkamp knows like no other how to combine traditional recipes with craftsmanship and high-quality ingredients, which is why both Amsterdammers and visitors gladly queue for something tasty.
Where does the name come from?
The name Holtkamp comes from pastry chef Cees Holtkamp, who together with his wife Petra took over the pastry shop in 1969. Under their leadership Holtkamp grew into one of the best-known patisseries of the Netherlands. Today the tradition is continued by the next generation, while the family name has remained as a mark of quality.
Fun fact
Besides the pastries, Holtkamp is perhaps just as famous for its shrimp croquettes. What began as an addition to the patisserie grew into an Amsterdam classic that is on the menu of countless restaurants and cafés. For many Amsterdammers a visit to Holtkamp is therefore only complete with a croquette and a little cake.
