Nate (voorheen Brug34)

Nate is the new name of the beloved hospitality venue on the corner of the Utrechtsestraat and the Herengracht. Where Brug34 was located for years, Nate opened its doors in 2025 with a renewed concept. During the day it is a light and relaxed place for coffee, breakfast and lunch, with dishes such as shakshuka, richly topped sourdough toasts and homemade classics. As soon as evening falls, Nate transforms into a stylish cocktail and wine bar where guests come together for drinks or an informal dinner. Thanks to the location on the canal, the sunny terrace and the hospitable atmosphere, Nate has grown into a popular meeting place for both Amsterdammers and visitors to the city.
Where does the name come from?
The name Nate is derived from the first name of owner Nathaniel Gtensaye, who took over the place in 2025 and gave it a new identity. Although the name changed, the starting point remained the same: an accessible meeting place where everyone feels welcome, from the first coffee in the morning to cocktails in the late hours.
Fun fact
The building has had a special history as a meeting place for decades. Even before Brug34, the well-known café ‘t Trefpunt was located here, a beloved Amsterdam meeting place from the 1960s. Nate continues that tradition and breathes new life into a historic location, with the same accessible atmosphere and a contemporary interpretation.
