Winter Plaza met ijsbaan

Every winter the Rembrandtplein transforms into an atmospheric Winter Plaza with a large open-air ice rink as its shining centrepiece. From mid-November to early January, young and old can skate here among the sparkling lights, while around the rink cosy wooden chalets, wintry treats and heated terraces create a snug atmosphere. After a round on the ice you warm up with a cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine, while the cafés and restaurants around the square complete the winter feeling. During the day it is a pleasant family outing, but as soon as evening falls the lighting and the lively surroundings create a magical winter atmosphere. The Winter Plaza has grown into a fixed tradition during the Amsterdam festive season.
Where does the name come from?
The name Winter Plaza refers to the temporary winter experience that is built up on the Rembrandtplein every year. For a few weeks the square transforms into an atmospheric winter village where skating, conviviality and typically Dutch winter traditions come together. The ice rink forms the heart of the event.

Did you know that the ice rink on the Rembrandtplein lies right among the entertainment venues? As a result, you can effortlessly combine an afternoon of skating with a lunch, drinks or dinner. In the evening, when the lights come on, the square takes on an almost fairytale-like appearance – one of the cosiest winter spots in Amsterdam.
