Da Michele (Napolitaanse pizzeria)

Da Michele brings the famous Neapolitan pizza tradition to Amsterdam. The pizzeria has its origins in Naples and is known worldwide for its airy dough, simple ingredients and pizzas from a traditional wood-fired oven. In Amsterdam you can go for the authentic Neapolitan flavour, with classics such as the Margherita and Marinara, prepared according to a family recipe that has been passed down for generations. Da Michele now has two branches in the city, including a location on the Rembrandtplein. The combination of Italian simplicity, fresh ingredients and a lively atmosphere makes it a popular place for both Amsterdammers and visitors who want to taste real Neapolitan pizza.
Where does the name come from?
The name Da Michele refers to Michele Condurro, the pizza baker who continued the family tradition at the beginning of the 20th century. The Condurro family started making pizza in Naples back in 1870. In 1906 Michele opened his own pizzeria, which later moved to the famous location on Via Cesare Sersale. To this day they work according to his philosophy: simple, high-quality ingredients and respect for the Neapolitan tradition.
Fun fact
Did you know that Da Michele became world-famous thanks to the book and the film Eat, Pray, Love? In the film Julia Roberts enjoys a Margherita in the original pizzeria in Naples, which turned Da Michele into one of the most famous pizzerias in the world. Since then, pizza lovers from all corners of the world have found their way to the brand – including in Amsterdam.
