Rembrandtplein has basically every fast food chain you can name. McDonald's, Subway, you name it, it's here. Wooden chalets pop up around the edges selling classic Dutch winter treats, oliebollen fresh and hot, hot chocolate, and there's usually a proper glühwein tower where you can warm up with a mulled wine between laps on the ice. String lights in the trees, artificial snow machines doing their thing, the whole square leaning fully into cosy Dutch winter mode.

It's not just a photo moment, either. Skating for twenty minutes works up exactly the kind of appetite that sends you straight back to one of the food stalls circling the rink, which, conveniently, is the whole plan anyway. Come for the skating, stay for the oliebollen, and you've got yourself a proper Amsterdam winter afternoon without ever leaving the square.

Rembrandtplein isn't trying to impress you with tablecloths and sommeliers, and that's exactly the point. In one square, and the streets branching off it, you can go from a decades-old brown café classic to a Febo eetmuur, from Neapolitan pizza to a steaming bowl of pho, and if the timing's right, straight into a glühwein next to an ice rink.
